Songs and Tab
|
This site is a compilation of songs. The user chooses an artist, Earl Scruggs, for example and the site plays song after song of the same genre though not necessarily the same artist. Using this site is a good way to be introduced to blue grass artists and songs that the user might not know about. |
|
Higly recommended site -- the name is self explanatory. |
| Bluegrass Lyrics |
A great site to get documented bluegrass lyrics by artist, genre, and all songs. |
| Banjo Newsletter |
MP3's available on this site as well as tab, archives, and most things of interest to banjo players. |
| Mandolin Information |
All you ever wanted to know and a little more about Mandolins here -- information and links. |
| The Idaho Project |
A compilation of songs known to have orginated in Idaho. In 2007, Gary Eller held a grant from the Idaho Humanities Council to collect historically-based songs of the Snake and Salmon River region. Songs about actual Idaho people, places and events provide a unique window into the region's rich heritage. To date, Gary has collected about 1000 songs related in some way to Idaho, of which about 100 predate 1910 and about 200 are historically rooted. These songs ranged widely and included somber event ballads, stage songs, hilarious parodies and operas. The early songs are being preserved in written and recorded forms that are accessible to present and future generations, and in public performances. |

Jason Homey
Banjo, Mandolin, Guitar
I have been playing acoustic stringed instruments since 1988. I am a two-time first place winner of the Western Canadian Bluegrass Banjo Championships and a long-term member of the Bluegrass/Celtic/Rock-band 'The Clumsy Lovers', with whom I play banjo, mandolin and guitar. In addition to teaching private lessons, and working as a studio musician/arranger/producer, and operating a mobile recording studio, I have experience teaching at Bluegrass Workshops, including having taught the Advanced Banjo class at BCBW.
I teach bluegrass mandolin (beginning and intermediate levels); bluegrass and old-time country rhythm guitar and flatpicking (beginning and intermediate levels); and 5-string banjo (all levels). Besides playing and teaching Scruggs-Style and Clawhammer (including 'Melodic' Clawhammer), I also play and teach a combination of 'Single-String' and 'Melodic' ('Keith') style that I use for arranging Irish fiddle tunes, Classical pieces, and other types of material, for banjo. In teaching private lessons, I follow no standardized program. Rather, I make it a point to tailor the lessons in accordance with the interests, aptitudes, learning style, and goals of the individual student.
My phone number is: 208 585 1637.
